Resumo: O texto analisa um artigo de Allan Kardec de 1865 sobre a possível manifestação espiritual de animais, baseado no relato de um proprietário que ouviu gemidos de sua cadela falecida. Kardec, mantendo uma postura científica, apresenta o relato como um fato a ser investigado, sem tirar conclusões definitivas, destacando a falta de evidências conclusivas sobre a existência de espíritos animais. A análise posterior ressalta a hesitação de Kardec em negar completamente a possibilidade, preferindo aguardar mais informações antes de formular uma teoria definitiva, em contraste com a posterior interpretação rígida por alguns espíritas.

Abstract: The text analyzes an article by Allan Kardec from 1865 about the possible spiritual manifestation of animals, based on the report of an owner who heard moans from his deceased dog. Kardec, maintaining a scientific stance, presents the report as a fact to be investigated, without drawing definitive conclusions, highlighting the lack of conclusive evidence about the existence of animal spirits. The subsequent analysis highlights Kardec’s hesitation in completely denying the possibility, preferring to wait for more information before formulating a definitive theory, in contrast to the later rigid interpretation by some spiritists.
