Resumo: O texto examina a controversa ideia da reencarnação de Allan Kardec, com foco na especulação de que Chico Xavier seria sua reencarnação. O autor analisa diversas fontes espíritas, apontando contradições e inconsistências nos argumentos que sustentam essa hipótese. São apresentados vários outros candidatos a reencarnações de Kardec, além de discussões sobre as missões de Kardec e Chico Xavier, e se estas foram complementares. A análise se baseia em citações de obras espíritas e entrevistas, buscando demonstrar a improbabilidade da tese principal e os prejuízos que a polêmica acarreta à Doutrina Espírita.

Abstract: This text examines the controversial idea of Allan Kardec’s reincarnation, focusing on the speculation that Chico Xavier could be his reincarnation. The author analyzes several Spiritist sources, pointing out contradictions and inconsistencies in the arguments that support this hypothesis. Several other candidates for Kardec’s reincarnation are presented, in addition to discussions about the missions of Kardec and Chico Xavier, and whether they were complementary. The analysis is based on quotations from Spiritist works and interviews, seeking to demonstrate the improbability of the main thesis and the damage that the controversy causes to the Spiritist Doctrine.
