Resumo: O artigo analisa a controvérsia sobre a exclusão da reencarnação dos cânones da Igreja no Segundo Concílio de Constantinopla (553), investigando a possível influência da Imperatriz Teodora. O estudo compara narrativas espíritas e acadêmicas sobre a vida de Teodora, suas ações e a condenação das ideias de Orígenes sobre a reencarnação. A metodologia envolve pesquisa bibliográfica qualitativa e análise comparativa de textos, buscando identificar semelhanças e diferenças entre as perspectivas espírita e acadêmica. O artigo explora a crença na reencarnação no cristianismo primitivo e o papel de Orígenes nesse contexto, concluindo que a eliminação da reencarnação dos cânones não se deve a Teodora, conforme afirmam algumas fontes espíritas.

Abstract: This article analyzes the controversy over the exclusion of reincarnation from the canons of the Church at the Second Council of Constantinople (553), investigating the possible influence of Empress Theodora. The study compares spiritualist and academic narratives about Theodora’s life, her actions, and the condemnation of Origen’s ideas on reincarnation. The methodology involves qualitative bibliographical research and comparative analysis of texts, seeking to identify similarities and differences between the spiritualist and academic perspectives. The article explores the belief in reincarnation in early Christianity and the role of Origen in this context, concluding that the elimination of reincarnation from the canons is not due to Theodora, as some spiritualist sources claim.
