Abstract: The text presents a debate on reincarnation, confronting the Spiritist perspective, which considers it compatible with Christianity, with an opposing view that rejects it as a doctrine not present in the Bible and subsequently suppressed by the Catholic Church. The discussion analyzes biblical interpretations, especially the identification of John the Baptist with Elijah, to support or refute reincarnation. Theological and historical aspects, including the role of the Council of Constantinople, are examined. Finally, the text discusses the compatibility between Spiritism and Christianity, questioning whether the Spiritist doctrine is of pagan origin.
