Resumo: O texto apresenta uma discussão teológica entre espíritas e salvacionistas sobre a interpretação de passagens bíblicas, principalmente Mateus 5:21-26 e Lucas 16:1-13. Espíritas argumentam pela reencarnação e esforço pessoal contínuo para a salvação, interpretando as referências a “último ceitil” e “riquezas iníquas” como alegorias da evolução espiritual. Salvacionistas, por outro lado, defendem a salvação pela fé em Cristo, rejeitando a reencarnação e interpretando as mesmas passagens de maneira literal, enfocando a responsabilidade individual nos atos e a necessidade do sacrifício vicário de Cristo. A análise inclui estudos gramaticais do grego original e referências a diferentes autores, como Kardec e Torres Pastorino, para sustentar as posições divergentes. A discussão gira em torno da natureza da salvação e do papel das boas obras na obtenção da mesma.

Abstract:The text presents a theological discussion between Spiritists and Salvationists about the interpretation of biblical passages, mainly Matthew 5:21-26 and Luke 16:1-13. Spiritists argue for reincarnation and continuous personal effort for salvation, interpreting the references to “the last farthing” and “wicked riches” as allegories of spiritual evolution. Salvationists, on the other hand, defend salvation through faith in Christ, rejecting reincarnation and interpreting the same passages literally, focusing on individual responsibility for actions and the need for Christ’s vicarious sacrifice. The analysis includes grammatical studies of the original Greek and references to different authors, such as Kardec and Torres Pastorino, to support the divergent positions. The discussion revolves around the nature of salvation and the role of good works in obtaining it.
