Resumo: O artigo investiga a historicidade de Públio Lentulus, personagem do livro espírita “Há dois mil anos”, psicografado por Chico Xavier. A pesquisa examina fontes históricas romanas, confrontando a existência de Lentulus com registros oficiais, como os Fasti Consulares, encontrando evidências de um cônsul suffectus com esse nome. O estudo analisa também a controversa carta apócrifa atribuída a Lentulus, descrevendo Jesus, e a posição da Igreja Católica sobre sua autenticidade. Finalmente, o autor argumenta que, apesar das lacunas históricas, a existência de Públio Lentulus e a carta são plausíveis.

Abstract: This article investigates the historicity of Publius Lentulus, a character in the spiritualist book “Há dois mil anos” (Two Thousand Years Ago), psychographed by Chico Xavier. The research examines Roman historical sources, comparing the existence of Lentulus with official records, such as the Fasti Consulares, finding evidence of a consul suffectus with that name. The study also analyzes the controversial apocryphal letter attributed to Lentulus, describing Jesus, and the Catholic Church’s position on its authenticity. Finally, the author argues that, despite the historical gaps, the existence of Publius Lentulus and the letter are plausible.
