Resumo: O artigo acadêmico “Uma revisão na história da 5ª edição de A Gênese, Parte II” investiga a controvérsia sobre a autenticidade da 5ª edição da obra de Allan Kardec. Os autores analisam documentos históricos e comunicações mediúnicas para argumentar que Kardec, com a colaboração de espíritos, revisou e atualizou a obra intencionalmente, e que a 5ª edição representa sua versão definitiva, comprovada pela criação de matrizes tipográficas em 1868 que impediram alterações posteriores. O estudo usa comparações entre as diferentes edições de A Gênese e outras obras de Kardec, e examina o uso da Revista Espírita na preparação da obra. Finalmente, o artigo descreve o processo de impressão do século XIX para refutar a alegação de adulteração.

Abstract: The academic article “A review of the history of the 5th edition of Genesis, Part II” investigates the controversy over the authenticity of the 5th edition of Allan Kardec’s work. The authors analyze historical documents and mediumistic communications to argue that Kardec, with the collaboration of spirits, intentionally revised and updated the work, and that the 5th edition represents its definitive version, proven by the creation of typographic matrices in 1868 that prevented later alterations. The study uses comparisons between the different editions of Genesis and other works by Kardec, and examines the use of the Spiritist Review in the preparation of the work. Finally, the article describes the 19th century printing process to refute the allegation of adulteration.
