Resumo: O artigo analisa a história da 5ª edição de “A Gênese” de Allan Kardec, focando no período pós-morte do autor. Estuda-se o papel de Amélie Boudet na publicação e a subsequente denúncia de adulteração da obra por Henri Sausse. A pesquisa examina a repercussão dessa denúncia na França e no Brasil, analisando diferentes perspectivas e evidências documentais. Os autores refutam a tese da adulteração, argumentando que as alterações foram feitas por Kardec antes de sua morte. Finalmente, o texto traça um panorama das controvérsias sobre a autenticidade da obra no Brasil, desde o século XIX até os debates mais recentes.

Abstract: This article analyzes the history of the 5th edition of Allan Kardec’s “Genesis”, focusing on the period after the author’s death. It studies the role of Amélie Boudet in the publication and the subsequent accusation of adulteration of the work by Henri Sausse. The research examines the repercussions of this accusation in France and Brazil, analyzing different perspectives and documentary evidence. The authors refute the adulteration theory, arguing that the alterations were made by Kardec before his death. Finally, the text outlines an overview of the controversies over the authenticity of the work in Brazil, from the 19th century to the most recent debates.
