Resumo: Este documento analisa a visão de Allan Kardec sobre as descrições da vida após a morte contidas na obra de Elizabeth Singer Rowe, escrita no século XVIII. O autor destaca que Kardec reconheceu no livro da escritora inglesa uma concordância perfeita com os princípios da doutrina espírita, validando relatos sobre a existência de moradias e paisagens no plano espiritual. As cartas fictícias citadas descrevem ambientes que variam de palácios magníficos e jardins exuberantes a regiões sombrias destinadas ao sofrimento. O texto enfatiza que tais descrições anteciparam conceitos sobre a natureza fluídica das colônias espirituais muito antes da sistematização do Espiritismo. Por fim, ressalta-se que a obra de Rowe é considerada um dos primeiros registros a detalhar a realidade tangível do mundo invisível de forma semelhante à vida terrena.

Abstract: This document analyzes Allan Kardec’s view on the descriptions of life after death contained in the work of Elizabeth Singer Rowe, written in the 18th century. The author highlights that Kardec recognized in the English writer’s book a perfect agreement with the principles of the Spiritist doctrine, validating accounts of the existence of dwellings and landscapes in the spiritual plane. The fictional letters cited describe environments ranging from magnificent palaces and lush gardens to dark regions destined for suffering. The text emphasizes that such descriptions anticipated concepts about the fluidic nature of spiritual colonies long before the systematization of Spiritism. Finally, it is noted that Rowe’s work is considered one of the first records to detail the tangible reality of the invisible world in a way similar to earthly life.
